Results from the Very Frightening Open

Congrats to all our fencers in the Very Frightening Open!  One more tournament left in the season before a tournament break for the summer!

Here are the highlights:

In the Y10, Liam took second, losing in the finals against Apex’s Matt Higgins.  Liam held on in a close bout in the semi finals against Wilmington Fencing Club’s Aparna Dhulipala.  James Russel tied for third after eliminating teammate Saanvi Arramreddy, who ended in 5th.  Noah took 6th, after being eliminated in the 1st round by Dhulipala.

In the Y12, Isabelle went undefeated, toppling teammates Jack Tart (tied for third), and Daniel Johnson (2nd place).  Kayla Spell had 2 wins in the pools and tied for third with Tart.  James Russell also did the Y12 and placed 6th.

In the Men’s Foil, Harrison Dixon of Apex Fencing Academy earned his E rating while Bruce McRae upset Gabe Guevarra to take second place while Gabe took third.  Luke Boyd returned to take 6th, while Holden Moorefield took 7th.

Lastly in the Women’s Foil, Sabrina had and E rating in her sights, but lost to Mary Kolbas from Apex Fencing Academy.  Sabrina took 2nd while Layla Tart and Inez Page tied for third.  Greta Tart finished in 6th.
