On Strip/At Home Series: Beginner and Advanced Footwork (Video!)

fencing training, On Strip/At Home Series, video training

Here’s our first video training. It’s meant for our beginners, but I want our experienced and advanced to do it too.

Video link: https://youtu.be/xfAgfq4UmIs

BEGINNER FENCERS
We talked at the end of last class to do these exercises. Make sure you keep doing them! I went in depth in class, this will reinforce what we talked about. The first part explains the four things I want you to work on. The second half of the video is the exercise. I do them to, so just follow along for each set of 10.

EXPERIENCED AND ADVANCED FENCERS
Skip to the 4:30 mark (https://youtu.be/xfAgfq4UmIs?t=270) and do the footwork with me. It only takes about 3 minutes to do everything. But do these things:

  • Bend your knees as low as I am and stay seated.
  • Don’t stand up through all 4 sets of 10.
  • Focus on the distance of your lunge, landing on your heel and not rolling to the balls of your front feet when you lunge.
  • If you are doing this correct, the legs really should start complaining around the 5th lunge. Of it doesnt, you’re probably not sitting low enough on you en garde. 🙂

More videos to come!
